This is to make it easier to play through before melting the ice, then quickly see what you need to go back for without having to backtrack through the text.Īs always, a ranged weapon with plenty of ammunition is highly recommended. The longer side areas that are inaccessible until the ice has thawed are separated into their own sections of the guide. Doing so opens up several side areas and allows access to all of the chests that were previously frozen shut. Once Aava, the King's Pet is defeated, you can dispel the snow storm and thaw the area. You must find the Eye of the Priestess to see these enemies, which includes Aava, the King's Pet, which is the first boss you will face. There are even a few enemies that are very difficult to see in the snow storm. You will come across many areas that are blocked off due to the ice, as well as chests that are frozen shut and enemies that are frozen in place. The area is frozen over and a snow storm fills the air with ice and snow.

The ultimate ending really just involves another boss after Nishandra that doesn't give a boss soul, or any souls at all if I remember correctly, so it really doesn't have to big an impact on game-play, its mainly lore wise. The Crown of the Ivory King DLC is somewhat different compared to the previous two Dark Souls 2 DLC areas.

Else, feel free to finish the game before you get round to doing them.

If you beat the game before doing the DLCs, you can't get the ultimate ending, or whatever people call it, so if that is what you are trying for, hold up just before you fight the final boss at the Throne of Want beneath Drangleic castle, and go do the DLCs. The DLCs are accessed through shrines, and around these shrines are ancient engravings, one of which at every shrine reads something along the lines of "trespassers will face peril befitting a monarch", which basically states you need to be at around the end of the game to do the DLCs at there recommended difficulty. Think the other guy got confused, as he seems to believe you are at the end-boss fight, rather than just arriving at Drangleic castle for the first time.
